DCPLA presented $5,000 to the City Council for materials -
$2,500 for audio books
$1,000 for travel books
$1,000 for medical/legal self help books and
$500 for business/finance books
This was a result of the book sale ($2,500 raised) and the match from the Board of Directors -
the categories were chosen by library staff and voted upon by the book sale customers.

$5,200 Mango Languages - interactive language learning program.
$3,300 Support materials
$2,000 for a mobile material display island which will highlight portions of the collection at the Serramonte library; also funding for incentive prizes for the adult summer reading program
$6,000 for a mobile lab- to purchase lap top computers that staff can take to schools, fairs, events to promote the library resources such as tutoring, test preparation, business resources etc. (Grant funding provided by Carl Gellert & Celia Berta Gellert Foundation- $1,000 and the Danford Foundation- $2,000; membership matched it to bring the total to $6,000)
$1,000 for the branch libraries and their wish lists- each branch received $250 to spend on items they needed
$2,500 for the "Discover and Go" program that provides access to free or discounted passes to bay area museums, such as the California Science Academy etc.
$1,000 for multilingual reading materials- a grant approved and funded by the Carl Gellert and Celia Berta Gellert foundation.
$2,000 for biographical materials for the Westlake branch library; made possible by donations to DCPLA in memory of Mary Tissier, mother of Supervisor Adrienne Tissier. Adrienne's folks loved the Westlake library and Mary's favorite books were quite often biographies.
