Westlake Library and DCPLA host Cara Black

Murder was the topic of discussion on July 15th when fans of Cara Black gathered to hear about her latest Paris based novel, Murder in Pigalle.  Ms. Black talked about how she gathers research for her books, including many lunches with local Paris police (the flics) learning about true crime and then incorporating these into her books.  The main character, Aimee Leduc, stays continually chic throughout the entire series and the author spent time talking about how she develops the story line especially in light of the time in history – in this case 1998.

It takes the author about 1 year and 3 months to bring a book from start to publication.  She told the audience that she is currently in the editing stage of her next book, which will be set in the year 1999.

Guests were treated to delicious burgers and frites from Burgermeister; along with donated wine.  Cara autographed books after the talk and gave special recognition to DCPLA member Denise Schwarzbach who has been advising her in all things French from the first book.
